Stage and Silent Movie Actor. Born Edward Neumann in Budapest, Hungary, and immigrated to the United States in the late 1800s. He began his acting career on stage in light comedies then became a German dialect comedian in vaudeville. His first silent movie appearance was in "The Price She Paid" (1917). His filmography also includes: "The Mark of Zorro" (1920), "Gray Dawn" (1922), "Rosita" (1923), "Souls For Sale" (1923), "The Thief of Bagdad" (1924), "Phantom of the Opera" (1925 and 1930), "Seven Chances" (1925), "Battling Butler" (1926), "College" (1927), "The Red Mill" (1927), and "Public Enemy" (1931). He was married to actress Eleanor Taylor and the couple had three daughters. (bio by: Lieut. Dave)
