Known as E.W. Kemble, he illustated the original "Huckleberry Finn" for Mark Twain. Twain discovered him, through his cartoon work for Life Magazine. He was one of the first contributoors to Life Magazine. Later on in his career, he was know for his real-life drawings of African-Americans, which he portrayed in a sympathetic manner. (bio by: Rich H.)
