Stanislaw Marcin Ulam
Birth: Apr. 3, 1909, Poland
Death: May 13, 1984
Santa Fe
Santa Fe County
New Mexico, USA

Scienist. Along with scientist Edward Teller, he was principally responsible for the development of the hydrogen bomb (Stanislaw Ulam determined how to initiate fusion in the H-bomb). While working at Los Alamos on the hydrogen bomb, he also created the 'Monte-Carlo Method' of solving mathematical problems by employing statistical sampling through the use of random numbers-this is widely applied in computer implementations of mathematical software. (bio by: GravesScribe)
