U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Northwestern University Illinois, in 1939 and studied law at Yale Law School. During World War II, he served in the 8th and 12th U.S. Army Air Force, (1941-45) and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war, he continued to study law at Yale, was admitted to the bar in 1947 and commenced to practice law in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member, Will County Board of Supervisors, (1956-64), Legislative Advisory Committee to Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission, (1970-71) and a member of the Illinois State House of Representatives, (1970-71). In 1973, he was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-third Congress and to the six succeeding Congresses, serving until his death from cancer in 1986.
