Chief William Charles Rogers
Birth: Dec. 13, 1847
Death: Nov. 8, 1917

Last serving principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, whose entire self-government offices and authority were abolished by order of the U.S. Federal government, Washington, D.C. After serving in the Civil War, CSA, enlisting at the age of 14 in lst regm'nt, Cherokee Volunteers (Co.E.), Chief Rogers farmed near Skiatook and pursued an active political career in the Cherokee Congress. (bio by: Patricia Mechling)
