Television, Film Director. Born in New York City, he started his career as director for short films and made his big screen debut for “Who's the Man?” (1993), followed by “The Ref”(1994). His other noted film credits included “Beautiful Girls” (1996), “Monument Ave” (1998), “Life” (1999) and “Blow” (2001). He made his mark on television being the creator for MTV’s “Yo! MTV Raps”, plus directed for the TV series “Homicide: Life on the Street”, "Subway Stories: Manhattan Miracle", “Action” and won an Emmy Award for his work on HBO’s “A Lesson Before Dying”. He died at age 38 in Santa Monica, California and was married to music supervisor Amanda Scheer-Demme at the time of his death. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
