Professional Boxer. He was the former Light Heavyweight World Champion, winning the title in 1965 by knocking out Willie Pastrano. Prior to turning professional, Torres was a Silver Medal winner for the United States in the light middleweight division at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He defended his championship four times before losing a close decision to Dick Tiger in 1966. He fought three more times before retiring in 1969 with a record of 41-3-1 with 29 knockouts. Torres was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997. (bio by: Ron Moody)
