The Edmond Enterprise (Edmond, Oklahoma Co., OK)
12-27-1928 GEO. W. BOLING
The subject of this sketch was born in Nodaway County, Mo., May 29, 1859. Departed this life December 21, 1928; age 71 years, 6 months and 21 days.
George was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Redding Boling. He spent his early life in his old home in Missouri. He moved with his father and mother to Nebraska in the year 1874, coming from there to Oklahoma in 1889, settling on a farm six miles west of Edmond.
Mr. Boling was married three times. To the first union two children were born, Sam Boling of Edmond, and John Boling of the state of Washington. To the second union three children were born: Mrs. Stadler of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Alfred Chandler of Oklahoma City and George Burns of Edmond, Oklahoma. His first two wives preceded him to the Great Beyond. For his third wife, he married Miss Caroline Brewer. To this union twelve children were born, two of these children preceded him to the Heavenly land. Those now living are Frederick Boling of Edmond, Mrs. W.L. Fleming, of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. J.D. Chandler, Mrs. Ted Perry, Mrs. W.M. Billen, all of Oklahoma City; Clarence, Carl, Harvey, Dortha, and Lela Boling, all of Edmond.
He leaves to mourn their loss a widow, fifteen children, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, besides these a host of relatives and friends.
George Boling was a good citizen, a good neighbor, loved his wife and family. He was a real home builder, honest, industrious and prosperous; was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was never a member of any church, but believed in the good of churches in a community and contributed of his means in helping to build churches.
Just before he died, he said he committed to God in Christ's name his life, his spirit and his all for time and eternity. The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose, he'll never, no never desert to its foes.
The funeral was held at the Hopewell Church, by the pastor. A goodly crowd was in attendance. Interment was in the Whisler Cemetery. May the Lord's blessing rest on all of the sorrowing ones, and the Holy Spirit comfort and guide. – E.O.V.
