The Shawnee NewStar, Shawnee, OK Saturday, September 13, 1997 Bob Alexander WANETTE Town Trustee Bob Alexander died Thursday at a Norman hospital. He was 60. Alexander was born Oct. 9, 1936, to W.O. and Lois Alexander. He grew up around Oil Center, Okla., and Hobbs, N.M. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served aboard the USS Wasp. He married Esther VanSchuyver on Aug. 17, 1957, in Norman. He lived in Forgan, Hooker, Norman, Holdenville, Coalgate and Asher before moving to WANETTE in 1971. Alexander was a correctional officer for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, and he also worked as a rancher. He was a current member of the WANETTE Board of Trustees and was retired from the WANETTE Volunteer Fire Department. Alexander was a past mayor, a past member of the WANETTE School Board, the Lions Club and the Department of Corrections Honor Guard. He attended the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Esther, of the home in WANETTE; two sons, Bobby Alexander Jr. and his wife, Terry, of WANETTE and Jeffrey Alexander of Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Susan Moody and her husband, Mark, of Norman; three brothers, Billy Alexander of Albuquerque, N.M., David Alexander of Roswell, N.M., and Jerry Alexander of Tow, Texas; six grandchildren, Brandon, Troy, Bobbie Sue, Joshua, Zachary and Lyric; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Pat Hamilton, and an infant brother, Bill Alexander. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Little's Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with the Rev. Jim Adams officiating. Burial will be at the WANETTE Cemetery.
