Lucille "Umsted" Blackburn, 75, lifelong Atoka County resident, died Wednesday afternoon, December 3, 1997 at Atoka Memorial Hospital. Born at Tushka, Okla. On September 30, 1922, she was the daughter of Gus Umsted and Pearl "Stevens" Umsted. She attended Star and Tushka schools. She was affiliated with Pleasant View Freewill Baptist Church and later with Hillcrest Baptist church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. A Housewife and homemaker, she worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in her younger years. She was married to Leroy Blackburn on July 19, 1947 at Shawnee. Preceding her in death were her parents, Gus and Pearl Umsted; one brother, Earl Umsted; and two sisters, Edna Turnbull and Verna Mayo. Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 5 at 2 pm at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel in Atoka with Rev. John Howard officiating. Burial was in the Tushka Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service.
