County Farmer Shot To Death
Alex Dial, 38-year-old farmer of the Chewey community, 32 miles northwest of Stilwell, was shot to death late Friday afternoon when he went to the home of Sam Kirk, about 65, who lives two miles southeast of Chewey. According to Kirk who was released in $1,500 bond after pleading not guilty in his arrainment Saturday morning, before Justice of the Peace A. Dornbrack,Dial had been drinking and came to his home, and fought and clubbed at him. Kirk's preliminary will be held Saturday morning, July 5.
Dial's body was prepared for burial by the Roberts Funeral home, and later released to a Siloam Springs undertaker for buial in Thompson Cemetery, on Sunday.
Among the survivors are his wife Lucy of the home.
