TATUMS -- Interment for Willie Leonard Franks, 97, will be Friday at Tatums Cemetery following 11 a.m. services in El Reno.

Mrs. Franks was born March 3, 1903, in Coosa County, Ala., to Maggie and Miner Leonard. She died Dec. 15, 2000, in El Reno.

She came to Tatums as a child with her family, and after receiving her bachelor's degree from Langston University in 1944, she was a teacher at Davis, Tatums, Bryant, Sweet Home, Purcell and Wellington, Texas. She moved to El Reno in 1972 following the death of her husband, W.E. Franks. She was active in the Baptist church and several organizations, including being a regional officer in the Oklahoma Federation of Colored Women's Clubs.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Miner; son, Dr. William Franks; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Russworm Funeral Home, Watonga, will direct services.
