TATUMS -- Services for Nettie Hooks, 94, of Tatums will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. F.M. Lawson and the Rev. Reginald Thrash officiating. Interment will be in the Tatums Cemetery.
Mrs. Hooks was born Jan. 10, 1906, in Tatums, to Willie and Alberta Winslett. She died Aug. 10, 2000, at the hospital in Duncan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew D. Hooks.
A lifelong resident of Tatums, Mrs. Hooks was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Tatums where she sang in the choir and served as president and secretary of the General Missionary Society. She was also a member of Mount Moriah Chapter No. 145 of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, Rudolph Hooks, Tatums, and Matthew Hooks, Oklahoma City; three daughters, Bernice Jones, Oklahoma City, Lacey McCreary, Tatums and Betty Hooks Norman, Lawton; two brothers, Virlee and Willis Winslett, Tatums; two grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Jefferson Funeral Home in Lawton.
