Killed by Lightning
Charles Bording was struck by lightning and instantly killed while stacking wheat on his farm near Speermore, Okla., June 24, 1916. He and a crew of men were at work when a severe electric storm came up. Mr. Bording had just warned the men to quit work and retreat to the dry side of the stack, when he was struck by a bolt of lightning and instantly killed and the stack set on fire. His clothes on one side of his body were stripped off his body and one shoe was cut to pieces and the body quite badly bruised and burned. Mr. Bording was 42 years of age and is survived by the wife and four children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bording, of Caney, and a sister, Mrs. W. H. Ray, of Tyro. He grew to manhood on a farm in this county, near Tyro, and will be remembered by a good many people in the southwest part of the county. Burial was at Levarn, Okla.
