Franklin Delano Armstrong, 80, was called home by the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was born July 3, 1933 to
James and Sylvia (Bearbow) Armstrong in Clinton, Oklahoma. His mom passed away when he was five years old and a aunt, Tin Can, who loved him dearly adopted him and raised him as if he belonged to her. He attended Concho Schools. He joined the United States Army and served his country during WW ll and the Korean War. He met and married Emma Claressa Redhorn. From this union was born nine children. He and his wife received their GED in 1969. She preceded him on his birthday on July 3, 2005. Franklin worked for the City of Lawton on the Sanatation Truck for several years before becoming a Barber, he enjoyed hearing all the tall tells that was told. He enjoyed visiting with anyone. He never met a stranger. His greatest love was for his family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed just driving around with his wife and looking at all the beautiful scenery God created before she went to be with him. He enjoyed fishing and family gatherings. His wife's family gave the land where Red Stone Indian Baptist Church is to this date. He was a member of Red Stone Indian Baptist Church and a member of the Cheyene Arapaho Indian Tribe. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by three sons, James "Bear" Armstrong and wife, Claudia of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, their four children and twenty three grandchildren. Timmy Armstrong of El Reno, Okahoma, he has four children and 11 grandchildren, Mitchell Armstrong and wife, Mary of Lawton, Oklahoma, their three children and three grandchildren, Stella Vaughan of Lawton, Oklahoma, she has four children and seven grandchildren, Josephine Williams and husband, Jerry of Hartshorn, Oklahoma has eight children and nine grandchildren, Clarissa Armstrong of St. Pauls, Minnesota, has one child and nunerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Emma Claessa Armstrong, his loving aunt who raised him, Tin Can, two sons, William Armstrong and Delford Armstrong, one daughter, Sylvia Bosin and several brothers and sisters.
A all night prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life is 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2014 also at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church. Officiating is Rev. John Smith and Rev. Willie Doyeto. Burial will follow in the Red Stone Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
