PAULA LOUISE AKE, daughter of Robert Lee and Velma LaVerne (Broffey) Griffiths, was born September 8, 1959 at Springfield, IL. She departed this life on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid at age 52.
Paula was raised and educated at Girard, IL where she graduated high school in 1977. She immediately went to work for the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield where she worked the next fifteen years. In 1979, she married Anthony Thomas Wise and they had one daughter, Stephanie Lynn. Paula moved to Taos, NM where she did secretarial work for an insurance agency.
In 1994, she moved to Salem, OR where she worked as an apartment manager. In 1996, she moved to Seiling where she met Frankie Lynn Ake. They married in March 2001 and have made their home in the Orion Community since. Paula worked as a homemaker and loved her animals, especially her cats. She liked gardening and being with her family, particularly her grandchildren.
Paula was a member of the Orion Baptist Church where she was church treasurer.
She is survived by her husband Frankie Ake of Chester, one daughter, Stephanie Carson and husband Stephen of Jet, two step children-Shandell Ledford and husband Jerry of Oklahoma City and Michael Ake of Seiling, four grandchildren-Adrian, Cody and Jesse Carson and Regan Ledford; two sisters: Janice List and husband Ronnie of Mason City, IL, Patti Buchmiller and husband Allen of Seiling; two brothers: Freddie Griffiths and wife Sheila of Carlinville, IL and Larry Griffiths and wife Debbie of Rochester, IL. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral service will be held at 10am Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Orion Baptist Church with Pastor Mat Riddle, officiating. Interment will follow in Orion Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Orion Baptist Church building fund with Redinger Funeral Home-Box 236-Seiling, OK, serving as custodian of the funds.
