He grew up and attended school in McLoud,OK. He joined the Navy in 1948. Upon completion of bootcamp in San Diego,CA.He served on the USS Pine
Island. AV12 during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1952. After leaving the Navy he worked in the lumber retail business. He married Donna Cooper of Mangum,OK. Oct. 2, 1959. They lived in Memphis,TX and had three children. In 1969 he moved to Wichita Falls,Tx. where he worked for WM Cameron Wholesale until his retirement in 1989. He lived a few years in St. Marys, GA.where his son was stationed in the Navy.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vernon and Kenneth and a sister, Mildred Estep. He is survived by daughter, Valerie Hale & husband, Keith of Okmulgee,OK. Son, Robert Kevin Abrams & Wife, Stacy of Okmulgee, daughter, Melonie Mariano & husband, Vic of Mesa,AZ.2 sisters, Ermalene Mathews & Freda Bryan Mangum,OK. 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held in Okmulgee,OK.Crosstown Pentecostal church. He will be put to rest at the Veterans circle,Okmulgee Cemetery.
