|Birth: ||Dec. 11, 1827|
|Death: ||Oct. 29, 1906|
NOTE: George Washington signed his name "Coberley" on a letter written in his hand January 14, 1901 but because the grave marker is clearly "Coberly," I will use it to make it easier for searchers as the following generations seem to have dropped the "e."
Photo of George was provided by Thelma Coberly.
George married three times:
First wife - Joanna Salisbury, married 28 Aug 1845.
2) Lewis Cass,
3) Rachel m1.Loy m2. Wallsmith
Second wife - Elizabeth McCreary, married 4 November 1861 in Carthage, IL (her grave marker reads "Coberley")
7) Saphronia "Sallie,"
8) John Franklin #29856250
9) Robert Benjamin
10) Elizabeth Penelope,
Third wife - Amanda Lawrence, married 8 Aug 1886.
1) Loretta Adeline b.1887/8 Bolivar, MO
At the time of his death, George W. Coberly was visiting his daughter Emma Elizabeth Coberly Thruston and her husband William Thruston in Oklahoma.
William "Billy" Thruston died in 1909 and is buried near George.
From contributor Thelma Coberly: "George Washington fought in the Civil War, Company B 95th Infantry. Draft registration: Monticello, Hancock County, Illinois Age July i, 1863 34 years old Place of birth Ohio Occupation Farmer."
