Ray Eugene Purcell died Monday. He was 72. Purcell was born May 13, 1927, in Drumright. He worked as a body and fender repairman. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II and Korea. Survivors include his children, Michael Purcell, Wellston; Edward Purcell and John Purcell, both of Dallas; Dennis and his wife Lori, Wellston; Vesta Craker and her husband Quinton Saylor, Shawnee and many other grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sylvia Purcell; son, Asa Purcell; and a granddaughter Amber Purcell. Services will be held Saturday at the Horton Chapel Church of the Nazerene, south of Wellston. Burial will follow at the Newby Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Home, Luther, with the Rev. Dewayne Young and Donna Morton officating.
