Arvil Tom A.T. Battles, 83, of Talihina, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Beare Manor Nursing Center in Hartshorne.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Pastor David Yancy officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Station Cemetery under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
Born Sept. 13, 1921, in Wardville, he was the son of Lester E. and Nellie Pernell Battles. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was proud to be a Choctaw veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Bernadette Everett, Holden, La., and Anita Battles, Houston; five sons, Francis Battles, of Washington, Michael Battles, Houston, Shannon Battles, Houston, Tom Battles, Boston, and Shawn Battles, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Also, three brothers and sisters-in-law, John L. and Mary Battles, Huntington, Texas, Bill and Ramona Battles, of Hartshorne, and Claude and Earline Battles, of Hartshorne.
And, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Iona and Jake Ellerbee, Houston, Susan and Jerry Gragg, of Hartshorne, Ruth and Johnny Morris, of Heavener, and Clara Luker, of Hartshorne; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Battles, Shorty Battles, Donald Ray Battles, Michael Battles, Shannon Battles, and John Hardin.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephew and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sonny Battles; two infant daughters; three brothers, Wilburn, Willard, and Ted Battles, and three sisters, Geneva, Lanora, and Hazel Battles
