Services for Charles Wesley Howard, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Revs. Fred Rushing and Harold Brewer II officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home.
He served in the Army during World War II and was formerly employed by the City of Ardmore and Carter County District I. He was a farmer-rancher and served as caretaker and treasurer at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he was a longtime member. He and Vivian Anderson were married in 1947.
Survivors include his wife, of the home in Berwyn; sons, Rickie and Van, Ardmore; a daughter, Laura Adams; two sisters, Isabel Zachary and Elizabeth Holloway; a brother, Rollie Hill; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Jr. and Ronnie.
Bearers are Roy Adams Jr., Charles Harrison, Bernard Mace, Arlandus, Chevis and Eric Howard. Honorary bearers are members of Mt. Pleasant Brotherhood.
