Eugee Houston Akin was born 24 Nov 1918 to James Cicero "Jim" Gossage and Pencelia C. Drewry Gossage. Both parents died in 1918 from the influenza epileptic. His Grandmother Mary Jane "Mattie" Robertson Gossage. First tried to adopt filed she 07 Feb 1919. On 10 Feb 1919 D. T. Akin and P. C. Akin (David Tolten Akin and Parthena Catherine Drewry Akin) file a Protest of Petition for Adoption of Child. David Tolten (D. T.) & Parthena Catherine Drewry (P. C.) Akin on 31 Jul 1919 adopted Eugee Houston Gossage and his surname was changed to Akin. Eugee passed away at the Veterans Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma after a short illness.

Eugee was raise in Marion County, Texas and on a Farm SW of Maud in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. He married Fannie Lois Blalock on 03 Jun 1939 in Maud, Seminole County, Oklahoma. They had one child Marian Viola Akin. The were divorced on 29 Jun 1940 in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. Eugee joined in US Army in 1940. He went to Boot Camp at Fort Crockett in Galveston, Galveston Island, Texas. He was assigned to the 862nd Antiaircraft (AW) Battalion at San Diego, California. Were he meet Hazel McIntire the love of his life. She work for The Consolidated Aircraft Corporation in Dan Diego. His AA Unit was set up on the roof of Consolidated. Hazel said he would stand at the gate when she got off and sing to her. They were married on 23 Nov 1942 at the Logan Height Baptist Church in San Diego, San Diego County, California.

Eugee served with the US Army Coastal Artillery 862nd Antiaircraft (AW) Battalion in the Aleutian Islands, Territory of Alaska and the invasion of Kiska Island. They returned to the USA and the 862nd AA was disbanded. They were retrained as combat engineers and assigned to Company A 1345th Engineer Combat Battalion and sent to Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Inlands; Ulithi Atoll, Caroline Islands and finally to Okinawa, Ryukyus Islands, Japan. He was a member of the Disabled America Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars

Eugee returned home after the war to the farm and to raise a family. He and Hazel had and raised three children James Eugee Akin, Gerald Wayne Akin and May Ann Akin Dean. They moved to Chandler, Lincoln County, Oklahoma and to Moore, Cleveland County, Oklahoma in Aug 1960. He loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Eugee was processed in death by both his natural and adoptive parents, Sister Arlie Lee Akin Wolaver and infant sister Gossage.

Eugee is survived by his 1st wife Fannie Lois Blalock Drewry of Hayward, California, daughter Marian Viola Akin Leberre of Hayward, California, Step daughter Annetta Joyce Akin Lopez and husband Robert A Lopez.

Eugee is also survived by the love of his live for 43 years Hazel McIntire Akin of home, sons and daughter-in-laws, James Eugee & Hildy Akin of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Gerald Wayne & Beverly Akin of Moore, Oklahoma and daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann Akin & Johnny Dean of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and eight Grandchildren.

Services are at 10:00AM Monday November 4th at Moore Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at City of Moore Cemetery.
