• MILO -- Graveside service for Dr. J. Carl Bass, 76, Baytown, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Milo Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Jordan officiating.
Bass was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Fox to the late Lonzo and Anna M. Robinson Bass. He died Feb. 8, 2002, in Baytown.
Bass began his teaching career at Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City, taught at the University of Kansas and later at Harden Simmons in Abilene, Texas. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four sisters, Betty Shelly, Chino Valley, Ariz., Melba Patrick and Cindy Cormany, both of Wilson, and Edda Willingham, Tishomingo; four brothers, John, McKinney, Texas, James, Mountain Home, Ark., Dean, LaPorte, Texas, and Bobby, Borger, Texas.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.

Dr. Bass was an outstanding teacher and humanitarian. He was always available to help not only his students but the community. He was a wonderful human being that I miss.|
