Homer Newcom Brown, 85 year old Langley resident, passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2016 at the Heartsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on March 9, 1931 in Spavinaw to Mary Vinita (Hensley) and Cecil Eugene Brown. Homer married the love of his life, Linnie Loretta (Timmons) on June 21, 1950 in Miami. He worked as a carpenter and home mover all his life. Homer was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country from 1948 to 1950. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fighting chickens and just having a good time with friends and family. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Langley, and had attended the Otterbein Methodist Church in his later years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two children, Dickie Lee Brown in 2004 and Bonnie Sue Kays in 2007; siblings, Buddy Brown, G Y Brown and Geneva Baldwin.
The family includes; his wife Loretta of the home; daughters, Diana Bruce and husband Dee, Lora Stiles and husband Kenny, all of Langley and a son, John Brown of Langley; a brother, Bill Brown and wife Jalia of Pueblo, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. There are also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives surviving.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley.
The service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Otterbein Methodist Church near Ketchum, with Rev. Benjamin Pascoe officiating. Interment will follow at the Military Cemetery.
