Funeral services for Carol Blackwell, 78, of Locust Grove, will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove. Pastor Brian Bynum will officiate with burial following at McClain Cemetery in Locust Grove. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 AM- 7 PM at Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove.
Carol was born on December 25, 1932 in Claremore to William Rasmus and Margaret (McClain) Kenner. She passed away on October 11 at her home in Claremore.
Carol grew up in the Locust Grove area and attended school at Ballou School, Chilocco Indian School and Locust Grove Schools. She and Everett Ray Blackwell were married on March 26, 1960 in Locust Grove. They made their home in Tulsa for a short time then they moved to Colorado where they lived for 4 ½ years. They moved back to Tulsa where they made their home and she worked for St. John's Hospital for over 20 years as a healthcare worker. She later worked at Lowrance Electronics for 5 years then she retired. Carol was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother; she loved being a homemaker and raising her children. She loved to cook, garden and quilt in her spare time and she loved shopping. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove then after moving to be with her daughter, started attending the Church at Battlecreek in Tulsa.
She is survived by her 3 children-Howard Blackwell of Tulsa, Donna Bynum and husband John of Claremore and Shirley Statum and husband Jeff of Owasso; 8 grandchildren- Matt Bynym and wife Alison of St. Louis, Jeff Blackwell and wife April of Claremore, Brian Bynum and wife Stephanie of Inola, Jennifer Riddle and husband Charles of Inola, Kreg Bynum and wife Jamie of Catoosa, Shane Statum and wife Kara of Owasso, Stephen Statum of Owasso and Hollee Statum of Owasso; 15 great grandchildren- Spencer, Ethan, Molly, Morgan, Micah, Mishael,Jake, Samantha, Madison, Nash, Bailey, Avery, Hunter, Connor and Skyler; 2 brothers- William R. Keener Jr. and wife Deborah and Gary Ray Keener and wife Linda; 3 sisters- Ina Mae Cooper and husband Ray, Rose Stamper and husband Bill and Gladys Stokes and husband Art.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 1 brother, Johnny Keener.
