SHAWNEE, Okla. —
Shawnee resident Sarah Franklin died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, in Shawnee at the age of 74.
Sarah was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Pawnee to George and Minnie (Ellis) Franklin.
She attended Haskell Institute, Lawrence Kan., and business college.
Sarah was the administrator for Sac and Fox Tribe. She lived in Shawnee most of her life and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the Sac and Fox Senior Woman of the year 2003-2004.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Edmont Riley; one son, Michael Kaskuske; 1 grandson; five brothers; two uncles and two aunts.
Survivors include five sons, Randall Riley, Dino Riley, Franklin Riley, Wayne Riley, and Gary Riley two daughters, Jeanne Gregory and Tawana Biswell, stepsons, Irving Riley and Vincent Riley; two stepdaughters, Teresa Riley and Felicia Riley; one sister, Margaret Stevens; 28 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Tribal Rites will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ellis Farm. Burial will be 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at McKasato Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Walker Funeral Service.
