Charles E. Argo, 74, died Sunday at his Overbrook home. A memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donny Custar officiating.
A native of Gainesville, Texas, Argo was born July 6, 1931, to Raymond and Alma Johnson Argo. He married Barbara Bower on June 14, 1949, at Gainesville. She survives. He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Susan.
In his work as a brick mason, Argo laid the brick for the Lake Murray Chapel. He served aboard the USS Wiltsie from 1950 until 1954 as a member of the U.S. Navy. His military performance earned him the National Defense, Korean and China Service medals with six stars and Navy Occupation Asia clasp.
Charles will be missed, but never forgotten.
His survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Teresa Argo, Overbrook, and Gary and Chris Argo, Ardmore; five grandchildren, Brooke Baxter, Christy, Bobby, Garrett, Matt and Timmy Argo, all of Ardmore; two great-grandchildren, Bud and Macie Argo.
He is also survived by his mother, Alma, three sisters, Inez Curliss, Sue Puckett and Kay Reed, all of Ardmore, a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Doris Argo, Oklahoma City and many nephews and nieces.
Service arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
