Virgil Cicero Akridge was born March 28, 1878, in Georgia, son of Cicero Virgie Akridge (1839-1911) and Harriet E. Moss. In 1880, Virgil, age 2, was living in Dirt Seller, Georgia (Chattooga County), with his father, a farmer, age 39, born in Georgia, and his mother, age 28, born in Georgia, and five siblings: Augustus, age 10; Alma E., age 8; Nancy E., age 6; Willie S., age 4; and a male infant, age 1 month, born April 1880; all born in Georgia.
In 1900, Virgil, age 22, was living in Justice Precinct 1, Texas (Titus County) with his father, age 61, a farmer, born March 1839; and his mother, age 48, born January 1852; and the following siblings: Nancy, age 26, born September 1873; Willie, age 23, born November 1876; Robert, age 20, born April 1880; John, age 15, born May 1885; Virtes, age 12, born March 1888; and Mary V., age 9, born October 1890; all born in Georgia.
In 1901, Virgil married Lelia Brown, born December 13, 1877 in Georgia. Virgil and Lelia would have six known children: Bessie E., Carrie, Henry H., Lucille A., Gracie I., and Mildred Nadine.
Virgil registered for the World War I draft on September 12, 1918. He listed his full name as Virgil Cicero Akridge, his age as 40, his date of birth as March 28, 1878, his occupation as farmer, his current residence as Lexington, Oklahoma, and his nearest relative as Lelia Brown Akridge. He described his physical characteristics as medium height, medium weight, light brown hair, and blue eyes.
In 1920, Virgil, age 41, and his wife, Lelia B., age 42, born in Georgia, were living in Lexington, Oklahoma (Cleveland County) with five children: Bessie E., age 18; Carrie, age 17; Henry H., age 14; Lucille A., age 10; and Gracie I., age 3 years 3 months. The three oldest children were born in Texas and the two youngest were born in Oklahoma.
In 1930, the family was still living in Lexington, on the farm they owned. The household consisted of Virgil, age 52; Lela B., age 52; Lucille A., age 20; Grace I., age 13; and Mildred N., age 9.
Lelia died September 16, 1943 and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery. Virgil died April 30, 1962 and was buried beside his wife.

Akridge was born in Georgia and moved to Lexington in 1906. He had been a city resident six years. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Bessie Conley of the city; Mrs. Lucille Conley, Lexington; Mrs. Johnnie (Carrie) Rule, Holdenville; Mrs. Nadine King, Pauls Valley; and Mrs. Bill (Gracie) Manoles, Edmond.
