Lelia Brown Rolater was born December 13, 1877 in Georgia, one of ten children of Nancy Horton and Baylis Maxwell Rolater. In 1900, she was living with her parents in Justice Precinct 1, Fannin County, Texas. The household included her parents, both age 49; and her siblings: Fannie M., age 20; Horace M, age 19; Allie O., age 17; Carol P., age 15; Carrie P., age 15; Dee F., age 13; Jula K., age 11; and Myrtle M., age 8.

In 1901, she married Virgil C. Akridge, who was born March 28, 1878, in Georgia, son of Cicero Virgie Akridge (1839-1911) and Harriet E. Moss. Lelia and Virgil had six known children: Bessie E., Carrie, Henry H., Lucille A., Gracie I., and Mildred Nadine.

Virgil registered for the World War I draft on September 12, 1918. He listed his full name as Virgil Cicero Akridge, his age as 40, his date of birth as March 28, 1878, his occupation as farmer, his current residence as Lexington, Oklahoma, and his nearest relative as Lelia Brown Akridge. He described his physical characteristics as medium height, medium weight, light brown hair, and blue eyes.

In 1920, Virgil, age 41, and his wife, Lelia B., age 42, born in Georgia, were living in Lexington, Oklahoma (Cleveland County) with five children: Bessie E., age 18; Carrie, age 17; Henry H., age 14; Lucille A., age 10; and Gracie I., age 3 years 3 months. The three oldest children were born in Texas and the two youngest were born in Oklahoma. The last child, Mildred Nadine, was not listed in the census.

Lelia died September 16, 1943 and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery. Virgil died April 30, 1962 and was buried beside his wife.
