Ardmore — Funeral services for Richard Marvin "Bud" Caudle, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010, in St. Mary Catholic Church conducted by Rev. Thomas O'Toole. Burial with Military Honors provided by a Fort Sill honors team will be in Legate Cemetery, southeast of Ardmore.
Rosary devotional services will be at 5:30 p.m. today at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, followed by a time of support and visitation for family and friends.
Born to the late Herbert Marvin Caudle and Edna Myrtle Rust Caudle on October 19, 1934, at Pawnee, Oklahoma, "Bud" died Sunday, November 14, 2010, in the local hospital, at Ardmore, Oklahoma.
A graduate of Ripley High School, the class of 1952, "Bud" entered the U.S. Army in 1954 and retired some 28 years later after serving in Germany, Korea and Vietnam.
A Staff Sergeant, he had been awarded the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He and the former Elizabeth Reader were married September 15, 1960, at Ardmore.
The family moved to Guthrie in 1980 and returned here in 2003. He had received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and had taught at St. Mary's Catholic School in Guthrie and also for the Job Corps for 10 years.
A member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ardmore he was also a member of the Knight's of Columbus, the 4th Degree, at Stillwater. "Bud" enjoyed researching family history, working in his yard and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Caudle of the home; four sons, John Caudle and his wife, Lori of Pennsylvania, Gus Caudle and his wife, Tammie of Lone Grove, Chris Caudle and his wife, Charlotte, Owasso, Oklahoma and Mark Caudle of the home; two daughters, Anna Norfleet and her husband, Dwight of Guthrie and Regina Caudle of Guthrie; a granddaughter, that they raised, Makayla Lott; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank, Cleo and Harold Caudle and his wife, Ann of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Herman Caudle and his wife, Diane, Ardmore; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Foster of Ardmore.
In addition to his parents; a sister, Beverly Foster; and stepfather, O'Dell Jones preceded him in death.
Serving as bearers will be Tony Daniels, Herman, Mark, Chris, John and Aaron Caudle.
