Arrlempa Maude Beavers was named after her maternal grandmother, Arrlempa Hankins Hankins. Her nick name was Arla and little Arlie, thus the name on her headstone reads Arla M Beavers.
(I do not know if it is correct to change the headstone title to her full real name, this is why I mention the name variations family had for her)
Arrlempa was born in Nebraska. I am not sure exactly what county at this time, but her maternal grandparents lived in Sheridan Co Neb in Hay Springs. William Elwin Beavers married Ada Hankins. William was first cousin once removed from Ada and her parents were first cousins. To better show how the tree overlaps, here is a picture beginning with an older generation:
Daniel Hankins m Anna Collier of the ten children they had, Roland Hankins m 1)Mary Elizabeth Davison m 2) Barbara Ellen Davison
Daniel brother Joseph William Hankins m 1) Agnes Collier m 2) Elizabeth Hepler, widow of William Davidson/Davison
note: Elizabeth Hepler Davidson had four daughters from her first marriage. When she married Joseph Hankins, she had six children. Roland's two wives were from the Davidson marriage and Arrlempa Hankins was one of the six children from Elizabeth and Joseph Hankins.
Roland Hankins m Mary Elizabeth Davison (as she took spelling of Davison) had four children, the oldest being Malinda Ann Hankins m William Jasper Beavers, their son William Elwin Beavers is father to above Arrlempa Maude Beavers.
Roland's brother James Hankins m Arrlempa Hankins, his first cousin. They were the parents of Ada Hankins, little Arrlempa Maude Beavers mother.
Another note: Roland's sister Sarah Hankins m Richard T. Baker whose daughter also married into James and Arrlempa tree to their son Edgar.
BACK TO LITTLE ARRLEMPA STORY:
When Ada died in childbirth with her second child, a son died at birth and Ada died three days later, Arrlempa lived with James and Arrlempa. I believe when the faternal line of William Elwin Beavers and his parents moved on westward is when Arrlempa Maude went with them.
I will post photos of Arrlempa and two old letters, one her mother Ada wrote and one William wrote when Ada died.
She was loved by all of her family and had a very special personality. A lock of her hair braided, a piece of her dress and a small white apron remains in the trunk that belonged to Malinda Ann Hankins Beavers.
I give credit to my aunt Fay Hankins, grandaughter of Malinda with family history and notes that Arrlempa was buried in Independence Cemetery. It has taken me years to locate you but now you are home. Love you too. Georgie Ann
