Death: Jan. 29, 1981

The Wellington Leader February 5, 1981

Albert J. Adkins, 79-year-old prominent Vinson farmer-rancher, died in Mangum, OK hospital Thursday, January 29.

He was only semi-retired and still gave much of his time to his farm, where he and his wife lived. Mr. Adkins also owned land on which his parents homesteaded when he was a child.

In 1908, they had come from Cary, Kansas, where he was born November 11, 1901. He attended Made School.

Concerned about the welfare and growth of the community, Mr. Adkins was active in community affairs and in the church over a long period of years.

He was married to Miss Emma Breedlove, December 23, 1922 at Independence.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Adkins; two daughters, Mrs. J. W. (Ellen) Holder, and Mrs. Durant (Helen) McInnis of Guymon, OK. There are three grandchildren, Sandra Osburg of Guymon, OK, and Danny Holder and Nancy Heflin, both of Hollis. Four great-grandchildren also survive.
