Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Vivian (Rich) Abshire, 81, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at the Assembly of God Church in Wilson with Pastor Dale Tarp officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Juanita was born April 22, 1927, in Seminole, Okla., to the late Mr. George Alexander and Mrs. Vidith Edna (Ligon) Rich. She departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at her home in Wilson.
Juanita was reared in Holdenville, Okla., attending school there. She always provided for her family as a devout homemaker and housewife. She married Mr. Francis M. Abshire, June 4, 1965, at Velma, Okla.
They returned to Wilson in 1999, moving here from Bray. Juanita enjoyed fishing, playing games, especially dominoes and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Doyle Thompson; brothers, Hewlitt, Burl and Albert Rich; grandson, Jimmy Kennedy and great-grandson, Tyrell Kennedy.
Survivors include her husband, Francis of the home; daughter, Wanda Thompson of Keifer, Okla.; son, Eddie Thompson and wife Marge of Bray; sister, Nora Chambers of Newcastle; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Eric Thompson, Deryck Harmon, Joe Davis, Cody Davis, William Spence and Michael Spence. Honorary bearers will be Michael Jai Schroder, Dustin Thompson, Kyle Harmon and Gary Hulsey.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home in Wilson.
