• WILSON -- Graveside rites for Sylvester "Junior" Adams Jr., 74, Ardmore, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2002, at Hewitt Cemetery, Wilson, with the Rev. Leroy Holman officiating.
Mr. Adams was born June 5, 1927, in Houston, to Sylvester and Lillie Sanford Adams. He died Feb. 26, 2002, at the local hospital.
He had been an Ardmore resident all his life and was employed by Pepsi Cola Company for 15 years working in receiving and deliveries. Sylvester was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels for five years and with the Southern Oklahoma Nutrition Program for seven years. Mr. Adams enjoyed country music, watching wrestling on TV and spending time with his family.
Survivors include daughters, DeAnn Salas, Lisa Adams and Shirlene Stidham, all of Ardmore; a son, Thomas Adams of Healdton; a stepson, Monty D. Herwick of Lawton; a brother, Albert Roy Adams of Houston; a sister, Marie Noble of Livingston, Texas; four grandsons, Brett Stidham, Jerry Doughty, John Doughty, Mamie Salas; two granddaughters, Amanda Acosta and Melissa Smith; stepgranddaughters, Stephanie, Julie and Ashley Herwick; and great-granddaughter, Jordan Doughty. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Adams; and two granddaughters, Michelle and Amelia Adams.
Bearers will be Danny Sewell, Terry Bell, Dee Davis, Juan Salas, Jerry Doughty and John Doughty.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.
