CACHE Funeral for Beulah Ruth Booker, 85, Cache, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Cache, with the Rev. Bryan Tener, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Booker passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011, in Owasso.
Burial will be in Headrick Cemetery, Headrick, under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Hereford, Texas, to William Elbert and Sara Pipkin Fallwell. She grew up in Friona, Texas, where she attended school. She met Jeff Allen Booker in February 1942 and they were married in Clovis, N.M., on Dec. 24, 1942. She and Jeff moved to Headrick in January 1943 to begin farming. She worked in several grocery stores until starting their family. In 1954, she became a part-time flexible clerk in the Headrick Post Office, finally becoming an acting Postmaster in 1969 before being appointed Postmaster of Headrick that same year. In 1979, she was promoted to Postmaster of Cache, a position she held until her retirement on Dec. 1, 1989, retiring with 32 years of service. After retirement, she worked for the 2000 U.S. Census as a supervisor from February until the office was closed in September 2000. She then worked for nine years for Huddleston Funeral Home.
She was very active in First United Methodist Church, Cache, where for several years, she was the official Hot Roll Baker, baking about a million rolls. She was active in the National Association of Postmasters of the United States, where she held many offices both in the state and national organization. She attended every state and national convention between 1970 and 2009 except for two. They were just her extended family. Since total retirement, she became very active in the National Active and Retired Federal Employees, holding both chapter and state offices. She was a member of Lawton Chapter No. 167. She also served on the Comanche County Board for Senior Meals and for many years served on the Cache Election Board during the voting at the Cache Precinct. She was a member of the Frederick Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 203, where she received her 50-year pin several years ago. She also belonged to the Knife and Fork Club and the Lawton Community Theatre.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Wesley and Marie Booker, and Ronnie and Pam Booker, all of Headrick; her daughter and son-in-law, Pati and Larry Casillas, Broken Arrow; her grandchildren: Scott Booker, Bedford, Texas; Tami Drake, Duncan; Tiny and Tori Booker, Headrick; Kenna Haynie, Collinsville; and Heath Booker, Moore; five extended grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Joe Wendell Fallwell, Denton, Texas; her sister, Tommie Boeckman and her husband, Joe, Friona, Texas; two sisters-in-law: Ann Gardener, Citrus Heights, Calif.; and Julia Hebel and her husband, Harold, Kemp, Texas; her brother-in-law, Ray Booker and his wife, Eloise, Haymarket, Va.; 12 nieces and nephews; and her extended family: Mary Lou and T.J. Seymour, Lawton; Jeanie and Larry Ferguson, Cache; and Debbie McDonald, Cache.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff, who passed away in December 1999; her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
There will be a special viewing and visitation for family and friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
