The funeral service for Delorse S. Merrill Arnold, age 84, will be at 10:00 am Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William Beard and Brother Tom Cooksey officiating. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Delorse was born February 7, 1929, to Flossie and Odis Merrill in Bristow, Oklahoma, and passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014, in Enid, Oklahoma.

When Delorse was a young child, the family moved to Cherokee, Oklahoma, where Delorse graduated from Cherokee High School in 1947. On October 8th, 1949, she married Virgil Arnold in Cherokee. The couple and their children lived in Sand Creek, Oklahoma, then Bluff City, Kansas, and later settled in Byron, Oklahoma, until 1983 when they moved back to Cherokee. Delorse worked at Byron and Burlington Public Schools for a total of over 20 years.

She is survived by six children: Barbara (Bob) Clover of Ottawa, Kansas; Dennis Arnold of Enid; David (Janet) Arnold of Clinton, Utah; Beverly (Steve) Lett of Enid; Karen (Jerry) Stumbo of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jill Arnold of Denton, Texas; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Kris) Wire of Pond Creek; Robert (Debbie) Clover of Louisburg, Kansas; Andrea (Curt) Ondracek of Enid; J.T. Lett of Enid; eight great-grandchildren: Russell, Brent, Justin, and Morgan Wire, Cole and Levi Clover, Caleb and Cason Ondracek; her sister Gracie Haskins of Thibodeaux, Louisiana; brother Bob Merrill of Moore, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil Arnold, brothers Ira, JC, Hiram, Gene, Don, Larry, and two sisters, Edith Merrill and Elsie Clark.
