Birth: Mar., 1859
Wisconsin, USA
Death: 1943
Logan County
Oklahoma, USA

Son of William Arthur and Virginia Laughlin Brodie. Husband to Minnie B. and father to Edith E., Arthur Guy, Edna F., Ina M.

John W. and Minnie B., along with daughter Edith came in the Land Run of 1889 into Oklahoma Territory and homesteaded 160 acres in Cedar Township "NW 35-16-4".

Some records have him born in Missouri but doubtful given family's movement across country and younger siblings birth born in Illinois. See 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 Federal Census Records. The family is in two 1890 Census Records for Oklahoma Territory one in Cedar Township and one in Guthrie.

It appears that John W. Brodie is listed as "Walter" (age 11) in the 1870 Census in East Oakland Township, Coles County, Illinois, along with his parents, William and Virginia. The family is also listed in the 1850 census in Arena, Iowa County, Wisconsin. Virginia was the daughter of Alexander Laughlin and Lavina King Laughlin (Find a Grave numbers 28546329 and 28546981). I have not found any death records for William and Virginia. Info provided by Contributor Will Whitaker 47341432
