Sidney Woodrow Alnett, Jr. was born on January 28, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Sidney Woodrow Alnett, Sr. and Joan Francis (Botkin) Alnett. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in Pryor, Oklahoma, at the age of 65 years and 4 months. Sidney grew up around and attended schools in Owasso. He served his country in the US Navy. On January 14, 1991, in Miami, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Jones. Sidney had been a part of the Evangelistic Tabernacle in Tulsa. He was a member of American Legion Post #213, the Moose Lodge, and the Musician's Union, Local #94. Sidney was a retired musician that was very talented. Music was his passion and he had played with Waylon Jennings for some time. He had been a Salina resident since 2001, having moved there from the Tulsa area. Sidney is survived by: his wife: Joyce, of the home; 3 children: Michel Blevins and wife Mary of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Shelley Terrell and husband Ron of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Crystal Odell and husband Justin of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 3 step-sons: Craig Jones and wife Becky of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Patrick Jones and wife Katrina of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Steven Jones and wife Roxie of Utah; 9 grandchildren: Courtney, Amanda, Emily, and Katie Jones, Jazmine Webb, Misty Blevins, Jasmine Odell, Tracy Dickard, and Michael Umphrey; 4 great grandchildren: Aubree, Stephen, Madison, and Jordan; 1 sister: Claydean Thornton and husband Robert of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother: Chuck Alnett; and 1 sister: Denise Easton. Funeral services were held 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 2, 2008, at Jubilee Ministries. Reverend Shawn Bates officiated with interment following at Haner-Adair Cemetery. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
