Ne-wal-la was a full blood Osage Indian from Grayhorse district, Grayhorse, Oklahoma. His birth date was unknown and when all Osages were put onto a roll book in 1906, they listed his birthday as January 1. He was involved with other Osages like Black Dog II and made trips to the White House with Osage Chief Fred Lookout to see President Coolidge, whom they called their "Great White Father." Black Dog Society member.

Ne-wal-la means 'Giver of Life.' He was always called Old Man Newalla and his descendents took on the name Newalla as a last name. This happened when all Osages were put on the roll of 1906 and many names are now family last names.

Wives were Me-tsa-he and Mary Blackbird Newalla (Hlu-ah-to-me).

This is the submitters Great-great-grandfather.
