Ida Maria Louisa Pggemeier was born 16 Feb 1879 to Henry and Maria Louise (Freese) Poggemeir in Benton township, Ottawa Co., Ohio. She was enumerated at age one in the 1880 US Federal Census of Benton along with her parents, Henry W. (35), who had been born in Hanover, Germany, and was working as a merchant, her mother Louisa (30), who was "keeping house," and her three older siblings, Thadious (9), Henriette (6), and Ida (4).

In the 1900 US Federal Census of Precinct D of Lucas Co., Ohio, Louisa C. was age 21 and residing with her widowed mother Louisa E. (51, b. June 1848), older brother Thadius (29, b. Dec 1870), and along with her older sister Henrietta (26, b. July 1873), who had been married for nine years to an Englishman, Edward Billinghurst (35, b. July 1864), and their two sons, Donald E. (7, b. June 1892) and Robert L. (10 mo., b. Jul 1899). Louise was working as a dress maker, her older brother Thadius was working as a clothing clerk, and her brother-in-law Edward was working as a R.R. Brakeman.

In the 1910 US Federal Census, Louise was age thirty-one, still single and lodging with a family in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was working as the manager of an "Attractive Attire Shop." Sometime between 1910 and 1920 Louise had met and married Warren LeRoy Bickford, and they were residing on the Bickford farm in the Helena Township of Alfalfa Co., Oklahoma. "Roy" was age 38 and Louise was 40, and they were living next to Roy's parents, Chaucla M. and Sarah A. Bickford.
