Son of William D. Giles and Charlotte Temple May Giles, born "near Natural Bridge" in Kentucky. Married Julia Ann Groves on 7 December 1873 in Viroqua, Vernon Co, WI.
Both William and Julia are "buried directly north from the entrance gate, on the south side of the large cedar tree in the approx. center of the Giles Cemetery, which was named for them, and which was established on donated land on the Southeast corner of the old Giles homestead, approx. two miles Northeast from the Keokuk Cemetery, Pottawatomie Co, Ok. William Giles died at his home in Keokuk Falls, Oklahoma Territory, on January 30, of bronchitis, after an illness of five weeks. His wife, who was a daughter of Uncle John Groves, died about two years ago. He leaves three children, all grown up and living in Oklahoma. Among relatives in this city is his mother and three sisters, Mrs Cobb, Mrs Bowman and Mrs Silbaugh.
