Hazel Mable Adams
FREDERICK Funeral for Hazel Mable Adams, 83, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Missionary Church, 400 South First Street, Frederick, with the Rev. Lloyd R. Logan Sr., pastor, and the Rev. Michael Logan officiating.
Mrs. Adams died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in Frederick.
Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home, Lawton.
She was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Muskogee, to Irene and Garfield Epps. She moved to Frederick in 1940. She married James Squibb Adams in Frederick and worked for Challacombe Day Care and operated a Home Day Care. She later taught Kindergarten and Headstart for many years, before she retired. She attended Southwestern College in Altus. She was a member of First Baptist Missionary Church, in Frederick. She served with the Women's Missionary Union (WMU), sang in the choir, and served as chairperson of Ruth Circle, Hospitality, and the Decorating Committees.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Eula and Alfred Stevenson, Wichita, Kan.; Darlene and Johnny Harris, Lawton; and Donna and Greg Mills, Mount Clemons, Mich.; three sons and daughters-in-law: James Adams Jr. and Deidra, Frederick; Donald Adams, and Ronald and Shaunti Adams, all of Lawton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Adams, Chickasha; a sister-in-law, Claudine Williams, Frederick; a brother-in-law: Early Adams, Fort Worth, Texas; other relatives; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Douglas Adams; a sister, Julia Wilson; and a brother, James Epps.
