Davidson - Funeral for HUGH L. AKIN, 85, of rural Davidson, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Akin died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 3, 1920, to Hugh V. And Lillie Blackwood Akin in Frederick. He attended and graduated from Frederick High School in 1940 and later attended Cameron State Agricultural College. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He spent his life farming and ranching in Tillman County. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Johnita Akin of Davidson; a stepdaughter and her husband, Dana and Glen Burns of Ardmore; two sisters, Valera "Skeeter" Knight, Las Vegas, N.M., and Hurstine Dickey, Duncan; two grandchildren, Paige and Riley Akin; three step-grandchildren, Cody and Clint Burns, and Regina Overton-Ortega; a step-great-granddaughter, Randi Ortega; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Randy Overton; two sisters, Delynn Akin and Lucille Williamson; and two brothers, Travis and Marshall Akin.
