Funeral services for Herschel O. Adams, 72, were held Monday, April 1 at 10 a.m. in the Oak Street Church of Christ with Jack McKeown officiating.
Mr. Adams died March 29 in a Lawton hospital after a short illness. He was born at Rogersville, Missouri on March 27, 1913 and was married to Dovie M. Thompson at Duncan on April 9, 1936. He served in the U.S. Army from 1932 until 1938 at Fort Sill. Mr. Adams worked in the oil fields and as a painting contractor until he retired in 1975. They moved back to Apache in 1979. He was a member of the Chruch of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Herschel O., of Cedar Park, Texas and James Gerald of Fayetteville, N.C.; four daughters, Loreta Gail Patton of Lawenceburg, Indiana, Lovetta Monell Scribner of Kissee Mills, Missouri, Linda Sue Anthony of Cedar Park, Texas and Lenora Fay Lair of Springfield, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his step-mother, Ada Adams of Fordland, Mo.; two sisters, Irene Baker of Kissee Mills, Mo. and Leona Saggaser of Fordland, Mo.; one brother, Clinton Maggard of Willard, Mo.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery with Crews Funeral Home in charge.
