J. Homer Chain was born on September 11, 1917, at Oakwood OK to John Henry and Hazel V. (Hutton) Chain. He passed away at Okeene OK on September 21, 2011, at the age of 94. Homer was raised near Oakwood and graduated from Oakwood High School. He enjoyed raising cattle and was a member of Oakwood Masonic Lodge #386. Upon the closure of the Oakwood Masonic Lodge he demitted to Canton Masonic Lodge #418. Homer married Elsie B. Wills on July 14, 1939, in a wheat field east of Eagle City OK.

He will be missed by his son Charles and wife Susan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elsie; sons Jay Homer Chain and George Franklin Chain; brothers Alfred Chain, Orville "Bill" Chain, and Jesse Chain; and sister Mae Sorter.

Survivors are son Charles and wife Susan Chain; grandchildren Jay Chain of Moore OK, Cherie Serre and husband Doug of Seminole OK, Alice Isaacs and husband Russell of Turpin OK, and Paula Jackle and husband Dillen of Kansas City MO; and great-grandchildren Cloe Serre, Cameron Serre, Kevin Chain, and Shawn Chain.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2011, at Canton Christian Church with Pastor Ray Schoonmaker officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.
