Mattie Lucille Fuson was born on March 12, 1938 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Jay Earnest and Edna Lucille (Peterson) Fuson. Lucille attended all 12 years of school at Jet, Oklahoma, graduating with the class of 1956. She then attended Draughron's School of Business in Oklahoma City, graduating in 1958.
Lucille was united in marriage to Eddie Max Ackley on April 17, 1958 in Oklahoma City and two children were born to this union. Following their marriage, the Ackley's made their home in Guymon. Lucille was an active part of Ackley Harvesting for over 45 years and had also worked as a Income Tax preparer from 1976 until 2008 and as a bookkeeper for Hofferber Trucking for several years.
Lucille was a member of the United Methodist Church in Helena and Guymon. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Happy Neighbors Extension Club (FCA). She had also served as a Girl Scout Leader for over 9 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Max Ackley on June 16, 2000 and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Kay and husband, Wayne Hill; her son, Eddie Jay Ackley and wife, Sandra Rae and four grandchildren: Kelly Nicole Hill, Cylie Danielle Ackley, Courtney Michelle Ackley and Chance Alan Ackley all of Guymon. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Stanley of Manhattan, Kansas.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon with Rev. Michael Burkett, pastor and Rev. Barry Bennett, associate pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the direction of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The family suggest that memorials be made to the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the church office or the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
