"Monroe J. Adams, of Guymon died Friday March 26, 1999 at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of Ben and Mary Ellen (Campbell) Adams, he was born March 8, 1920 at Marbel City and was united in marriage to Dorothy Walker Oct. 22, 1938 at Arapaho.

The Adams family lived in Leedy where he worked for the M.K.T. railroad. He transferred to Gate where he concluded 20 years of service with the railroad.

The family moved to Tyrone in 1957 and he worked for the Tyrone and Liberal school systems and later for the Southwest Medical Center in the maintenance department until his retirement in 1992.

In 1994, the couple moved to Guymon to be near their children and grandchildren.

A member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, he was church custodian and was an active member of the No Man's Land Senior Citizen Center and Senior Citizen Dance Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dwain Adams; two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two sons, Eddie Adams and his wife Laura of Henderson, Nev. and Donaven Adams and his wife, Pam of Guymon; one daughter, Marketta and her husband, David Kidwell of Guymon; 12 grandchildren, Freddie O'Malley, Malinda Napoli, Marketta Faye Carbo, Monroe John Adams Jr, Eric Smith, Verdonna Ashley, Ranz Adams, Veronica Adams, Sabrena Adams, Amy Jo Urias and Mandy Jonet Kidwell; five great grandchildren, Kevin and Trevor Ashley, Natausha Urias, Wedge O'Malley and Maverick and Bret Adams; one brother, Albert Adams of Eufaula; and two sisters, Ina Mayo and Darlene Dahlkey both of Moore.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 30 from the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Chaffin officiating."
