Lawyer and Judge, Joseph George Breaune also served in the Army, stationed in the Phillipines, Korea, and Japan. He served on the MacArthur War Crimes Board, investigating Japanese war criminals and their treatment and abuse of American P.O.W's. Born in ElPaso, Texas to Carrie and Malcom Breaune, he grew up in Norman, Oklahoma. He met the love of his life, Ruth Virginia Williams, at O.U. They married and raised 2 adopted daughters on a farm outside of Miami, Oklahoma. He died of lung cancer and heart disease. Survived by his wife, his daughters, Glenda King and Roberta Breaune, 5 grandchildren, and his sister, Mildred Meeks. His wife died April 16, 2003 and is laid to rest beside him high up on the hillside above the old part of the cemetery. The child's stone beside his grave is a memorial for his grandson, Kelly, who is buried in Del City, Oklahoma.
