Services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 1st at First Southern Baptist Church, Kingfisher, Okla. Interment will follow at Dover Cemetery, Dover, Okla., under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.
He was born in Tyrone, Okla. on Dec. 5, 1934 to Basel and Velma (Wadley) Albright. He married Yvonne Rae Hampton on Aug. 2, 1956.
Byron served two years in the United States Army at Fort Riley, Kansas. Upon completion of his duties, the couple made their home in Tyrone, where they raised their four children.
In 2004 Byron and Yvonne moved to Dover to be near four of their grandsons and watch them play basketball. Byron stayed busy doing handy-work for many people, as well as projects at Dover Baptist Church, where he was an active member, until his health no longer allowed it.
Byron was an accomplished carpenter and spent much of his time throughout the years "making things better" at whatever job he was at. He also gave much time and dedication to the Tyrone Fire Dept., where he served as chief for several years.
Byron is survived by his wife, Yvonne (just short of 54 years), one son, Kirk Albright of Liberal, Kansas, three daughters, Jacki Grant and husband Rick of Duncan, Okla., Jeri Nichols and husband Billy of Forgan, Okla. and Traci Thrash and husband Brad of Cheyenne, Okla. twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with one more on the way. He is also survived by one sister, Beverly Kilgore of Liberal, Kansas.
