Hannah Avery Reynolds followed the frontier most of her life. She came from her native Vermont to Coshocton County, Ohio in 1835. There she was married to Hugh Lemmon of Dresden, Ohio. They had six children and Hugh died in 1854.

After a time, Hannah and the two youngest children came to Missouri where she married William Underwood. They were the parents of twins Franklin Pierce and Missouri Ann, born October 12, 1859.

William died in 1867 and Hannah’s brother Harrison Reynolds asked her to bring the twins and come to Chautauqua County, Kansas in 1872. Hannah and the twelve-year-old twins with a large dog made the trip in a covered wagon. William Lemmon, the youngest child of her first marriage rode horseback with them the first day, then turned back to school in Kirksville, Missouri.

Hannah was 72 and not too strong when she came to Oklahoma Territory in 1889. Their first log house was at last replaced by a two story frame house. She spent the last few years of her life with her daughter, Missouri's family. At age 85, on March 24, 1902 she departed this life and was buried (row 1 from Northeast)at the Soldier Creek Cemetery on the Donnell Place.
